**Lake Entiat** (also known as **Rocky Reach Reservoir**) is a [reservoir](/source/Reservoir) between [Chelan County](/source/Chelan_County,_Washington) and [Douglas County](/source/Douglas_County,_Washington) in North Central [Washington](/source/Washington_(state)), USA, that is formed above [Rocky Reach Dam](/source/Rocky_Reach_Dam) (built 1962), a [hydroelectric](/source/Hydroelectricity) [dam](/source/Dam) on the [Columbia River](/source/Columbia_River). The reservoir is 17 mi (27 km) north of [Wenatchee](/source/Wenatchee,_Washington) and stretches upstream to the [Wells Dam](/source/Wells_Dam). [Lincoln Rock State Park](/source/Lincoln_Rock_State_Park) is on its south shore.[1]

## Turtle Rock Island

A prominent feature in Lake Entiat is the 150-acre **Turtle Rock Island**, located northeast of Lincoln Rock State Park. Originally part of the mainland on the south bank of the Columbia, this rocky outcrop became an island when the lake formed.[2] [U.S. Highway 2](/source/U.S._Highway_2) formerly ran through the area that became the island, and remnants of the road may still be seen in aerial photos. The island is now a nature preserve and fish hatchery, with access only by boat.[3]
