# Labertouche

**Labertouche** is a locality in [Victoria](/source/Victoria_(Australia)), Australia, located on Jacksons Track, in the [Shire of Baw Baw](/source/Shire_of_Baw_Baw). At the [2016 census](/source/2016_Australian_census), Labertouche had a population of 356.[1]

The first post office in Labertouche opened on 5 April 1876.[2]

The locality is named after [Peter Paul Labertouche](/source/Peter_Paul_Labertouche), the Secretary of the [Victorian Railways](/source/Victorian_Railways) Department in the late nineteenth century,[3] and who descended from an Irish Huguenots family.[4]

A school was opened in 1880 and continues to operate.[5]

The tree species *[Grevillea barklyana](/source/Grevillea_barklyana)* is endemic to an area near Labertouche.
