==Recording and release==
''LP III'' continued the Soviettes' trend of numerically naming their albums (their previous two albums being ''[LP](/source/LP_(Soviettes_album))'' and ''[LP II](/source/LP_II)'').<ref name="ama">{{cite web|title=LP III|url=https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009ML1TI|publisher=[Amazon.com](/source/Amazon.com)|year=2009|accessdate=March 24, 2009}}</ref> Unlike the previous two which were signed with [Adeline Records](/source/Adeline_Records), this album was signed with [Fat Wreck Chords](/source/Fat_Wreck_Chords).<ref name="all">{{cite web|url={{AllMusic|class=album|id=r778243|pure_url=yes}}|title=Review|accessdate=March 25, 2009|last=Loftus|first=Johnny|year=2009|publisher=[Allmusic](/source/Allmusic)}}</ref> Reflecting on the change, bandmember Maren "Sturgeon" Macosko noted in an interview that "[t]he biggest difference between Adeline and Fat is, well, the size."<ref name="int">{{cite web|title=The Soviettes Speak|url=http://music.ign.com/articles/648/648583p1.html|date=September 7, 2005|accessdate=March 27, 2009|publisher=[IGN](/source/IGN)|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20101215200357/http://music.ign.com/articles/648/648583p1.html|archivedate=December 15, 2010}}</ref> The second track on the album, "¡Paranoia Cha Cha Cha!", was first released on April 20, 2004, on the ''[Rock Against Bush, Vol. 1](/source/Rock_Against_Bush%2C_Vol._1)'' compilation, part of the [Rock Against Bush](/source/Rock_Against_Bush) series.<ref name="rab">{{cite web|title=Rock Against Bush, Vol. 1 [ENHANCED]|year=2009|url=https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0001WPSM2|publisher=[Amazon.com](/source/Amazon.com)|accessdate=March 26, 2009}}</ref> The disc was produced by Fat Wreck Chords, making "¡Paranoia Cha Cha Cha!" the first Soviettes track on the label.<ref name="va">{{cite web|title=V/A Rock Against Bush Vol. 1|url=http://revhq.com/store.revhq?Page=search&Id=FAT675|accessdate=March 26, 2009|publisher=RevHQ|year=2009|archive-date=January 16, 2010|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100116053630/http://revhq.com/store.revhq?Page=search&Id=FAT675|url-status=dead}}</ref>

In early September, 2005, Macosko hinted that there would be an ''LP IV'' in the future.<ref name="int" /> This never happened, as the band broke up thereafter.<ref name="cit">{{cite web|url=http://www.citypages.com/bestof/2007/award/best-band-to-break-up-in-the-past-12-months-70159/|title=BEST BAND TO BREAK UP IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS|accessdate=2009-03-27|year=2007|publisher=[City Pages](/source/City_Pages)|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20100226124220/http://www.citypages.com/bestof/2007/award/best-band-to-break-up-in-the-past-12-months-70159/|archivedate=2010-02-26}}</ref> Nonetheless, the band reunited in 2010 to play several shows in the [Twin Cities](/source/Twin_Cities) and released a fourth album, called ''[Rarities](/source/Rarities_(Soviettes_album))''.<ref>{{Cite news| last = Spencer | first = Jack | title = The Soviettes: Then and now | newspaper = A.V. ==Reception==
''LP III'' was met with mixed reviews, although it was professionally reviewed only a few times. It was given a positive review in [Allmusic](/source/Allmusic), noting its [melodies](/source/melody) and [harmonies](/source/harmony) and calling it "the Soviettes' best-performed record yet". The service did note the short length of the album as its downfall, but otherwise had no negative feedback and rated the album as a four out of five.<ref name="all" />

In a review from [IGN](/source/IGN), the album was noted as a disappointment in comparison to ''LP II'', noting only "Multiply and Divide" and "¡Paranoia Cha Cha Cha!" as bright spots on the album. ("¡Paranoia Cha Cha Cha!" was discounted, however, since it had already been out since the previous year and was thus a repeat.) They gave the album a six and a half out of ten.<ref name="ign">{{cite web|title=The Soviettes - LP III|url=http://music.ign.com/articles/629/629928p2.html|accessdate=March 27, 2009|publisher=[IGN](/source/IGN)|date=June 29, 2005|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110527122835/http://music.ign.com/articles/629/629928p2.html|archivedate=May 27, 2011}}</ref>
