The **LD postcode area**, also known as the **Llandrindod Wells postcode area**,[2] is a group of eight postcode districts in [Wales](/source/Wales). These postcode districts cover much of south [Powys](/source/Powys), including [Llandrindod Wells](/source/Llandrindod_Wells), [Brecon](/source/Brecon), [Builth Wells](/source/Builth_Wells), [Presteigne](/source/Presteigne), [Knighton](/source/Knighton%2C_Powys), [Rhayader](/source/Rhayader), [Llanwrtyd Wells](/source/Llanwrtyd_Wells) and [Llangammarch Wells](/source/Llangammarch_Wells). The LD6 district also covers one isolated farmhouse in [Ceredigion](/source/Ceredigion). The LD7 and LD8 districts extend across the border into [England](/source/England), covering very small parts of [Shropshire](/source/Shropshire) and [Herefordshire](/source/Herefordshire).

The LD area is sparsely populated and contains fewer postcodes than any other area on the British mainland, except for the [KW](/source/KW_postcode_area) area in the north-east of [Scotland](/source/Scotland).[3]
