The **Kyll** (German pronunciation: [\[ˈkɪl\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Standard_German)), noted by the Roman poet [Ausonius](/source/Ausonius) as *Celbis*,[2] is a 128-kilometre-long (80 mi) [river](/source/River) in western [Germany](/source/Germany) ([North Rhine-Westphalia](/source/North_Rhine-Westphalia) and [Rhineland-Palatinate](/source/Rhineland-Palatinate)), left tributary of the [Moselle](/source/Moselle). It rises in the [Eifel](/source/Eifel) mountains, near the border with [Belgium](/source/Belgium) and flows generally south through the towns [Stadtkyll](/source/Stadtkyll), [Gerolstein](/source/Gerolstein), [Kyllburg](/source/Kyllburg) and east of [Bitburg](/source/Bitburg). It flows into the Moselle in Ehrang, a suburb of [Trier](/source/Trier).

## In fiction

The river Kyll, personified as a woman named Kelly, is one of the central characters in the fantasy/crime novel "October Man",[3] written by the author [Ben Aaronovitch](/source/Ben_Aaronovitch), in the book series [Rivers of London](/source/Rivers_of_London_(book_series)).

## Transport

Kyll train stop is located at [Cross Eifel Railway](/source/Cross_Eifel_Railway) although right now it is out of service, also the touristic special trains are currently not running.
