# Kyle Colonna

**Kyle Nino Colonna** (born August 2, 1999) is an American professional [soccer](/source/Soccer) player who plays as a [center back](/source/Center_back) for [V.League 1](/source/V.League_1) club [The Cong-Viettel](/source/The_Cong-Viettel_FC).

## Career

### Youth and college

Colonna played two years of varsity soccer at [Monte Vista High School](/source/Monte_Vista_High_School_(Danville,_California)), where he was named to All-League EBAL First Team and led the team to North Coast Section Championship and earned NCS Championship MVP. Colonna also spent two seasons with [USSDA](/source/USSDA) club side De Anza Force.[2][3]

In 2018, Colonna attended [San Diego State University](/source/San_Diego_State_University) to play [college soccer](/source/College_soccer_in_the_United_States). He redshirted his freshman season but went on to make 52 appearances for the Aztecs over four seasons, scoring three goals and adding a single assist.[2]

While at college, Colonna also appeared for [USL League Two](/source/USL_League_Two) side [San Francisco Glens](/source/San_Francisco_Glens) during their 2019 season, scoring a single goal in five regular season games.[4]

Following college, Colonna was eligible in the [2023 MLS SuperDraft](/source/2023_MLS_SuperDraft), but went undrafted.[5]

### Professional

Following a successful trial, Colonna signed his first professional contract with [USL Championship](/source/USL_Championship) side [New Mexico United](/source/New_Mexico_United) on March 14, 2023.[6][7][8][9]

On August 17, 2024, Colonna joined [V.League 1](/source/V.League_1) club [Hanoi FC](/source/Hanoi_FC), signing a one-year contract.[10] On September 14, he made his debut for the club in 1–0 win against [Quy Nhon Binh Dinh](/source/Quy_Nhon_Binh_Dinh_FC) in the league.

On August 7, 2025, after his contract with [Hanoi FC](/source/Hanoi_FC) expired, Colonna joined [V.League 1](/source/V.League_1) fellow club [The Cong-Viettel](/source/The_Cong-Viettel_FC).[11]

## Personal life

Colonna was born in the United States to an American father and a [Hoa ethnic](/source/Hoa_people) Vietnamese mother.[12][13] His maternal grandfather is from [Hanoi](/source/Hanoi).[14]
