The **Kuratau River** is a river of the centre of [New Zealand](/source/New_Zealand)'s [North Island](/source/North_Island). It flows generally eastwards, initially flowing southeast from its sources in rough hill country south of the [Pureora Forest Park](/source/Pureora_Forest_Park) before turning northeast to reach the small [Lake Kuratau](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Lake_Kuratau&action=edit&redlink=1). From here it flows east 5 kilometres (3 mi) further before flowing into the southwest of [Lake Taupō](/source/Lake_Taup%C5%8D) close to the settlement of [Kuratau](/source/Kuratau).

Waters from the river are used for power generation at the [Kuratau Power Station](/source/Kuratau_Power_Station).
