The '''Kronverk''' ({{langx|ru|Кронверк}}, from the [German](/source/German_Language) word for "[crownwork](/source/crownwork)") is a ground fortification for the [Sts. Peter and Paul Fortress](/source/Peter_and_Paul_Fortress) in [Saint Petersburg](/source/Saint_Petersburg), [Russia](/source/Russia). The Kronverk is situated on [Petrogradsky Island](/source/Petrogradsky_Island), across the small island of the fortress proper (separated by the [Kronverksky Strait](/source/Kronverksky_Strait)). It was built in 1705–08, with reconstructions in 1752 and 1800.

Strictly speaking, it is on its own island: {{interlanguage_link|Artillery Island|ru|Артиллерийский остров}} (Kronverksky Island), which is separated from the rest of Petrogradsky Island by the {{interlanguage_link|Kronverksky Canal|ru|Кронверкский проток}}.

On 13 July 1826, five participants of the [Decembrists](/source/Decembrists)' conspiracy were hanged on the eastern [rampart](/source/Rampart_(fortification)) of the Kronverk (in 1975, an obelisk was installed on the supposed site of execution).<ref>

Today, it houses the [Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps](/source/Military_Historical_Museum_of_Artillery%2C_Engineers_and_Signal_Corps), which is also known as the Artillery Museum.
