**Koukaki** ([Greek](/source/Greek_language): Κουκάκι or Κουκάκη, pronounced [\[kuˈkaci\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Greek)) is a southeast neighbourhood of [Athens](/source/Athens), [Greece](/source/Greece).

## Location

The general area of Koukaki borders from the north with [Makrygianni](/source/Makrygianni%2C_Athens) neighbourhood and the historical district of [Plaka](/source/Plaka) (the historical neighbourhood of Athens), the Municipality of [Kallithea](/source/Kallithea) and [Petralona](/source/Petralona) neighbourhood from the south, [Neos Kosmos](/source/Neos_Kosmos) neighbourhood from the east, and [Filopappou](/source/Philopappos_Monument) and [Thisio](/source/Thisio) neighbourhoods from the west. The two largest streets that cross Koukaki are [Veikou Street](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Veikou_Street&action=edit&redlink=1) (north-to-south) and [Dimitrakopoulou Street](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Dimitrakopoulou_Street&action=edit&redlink=1) (south-to-north). On the borderline between Koukaki and Neos Kosmos stands [Andrea Syngrou Avenue](/source/Andrea_Syngrou_Avenue), an important avenue in Athens that connects its center with [Poseidonos Avenue](/source/Poseidonos_Avenue) to the south.

## Transportation

Koukaki is served by two [Athens Metro](/source/Athens_Metro) stations, *[Akropoli](/source/Akropoli_metro_station)* (near the [Acropolis](/source/Acropolis)) and [Syngrou–Fix](/source/Syngrou%E2%80%93Fix_station) (on Andrea Syngrou Avenue). The nearest overground station is [Petralona](/source/Petralona_metro_station).

Koukaki is served by both lines (*Syntagma-SEF* and *Syntagma-Kolimvitirio*) of the [Athens Tram](/source/Athens_Tram) (*L. Vouliagmenis* and *Fix* stops).

Koukaki is served by a large number of bus routes along Andrea Syngrou Avenue, including 040, 106, 126, 136, 137, 230, A2, B2. In terms of [trolley bus](/source/Trolley_bus), Routes 1, 5, and 15 have stops along Veikou and Dimitrakopoulou streets.
