The rural settlement is located by the confluence of the [Koropets River](/source/Koropets_(river)) with the [Dniester](/source/Dniester).
==History==
Until 18 July 2020, Koropets belonged to [Monastyryska Raion](/source/Monastyryska_Raion). The raion was abolished in July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Ternopil Oblast to three. The area of Monastyryska Raion was merged into Chortkiv Raion.[{{Cite news|title=Про утворення та ліквідацію районів. Until 26 January 2024, Koropets was designated [urban-type settlement](/source/urban-type_settlement).
