# Koos Waslander

**Koos Waslander** (born 3 February 1957) is a Dutch [football](/source/Association_football) [coach](/source/Manager_(association_football)) and former player. He was most recently head coach of Dutch [Tweede Klasse](/source/Tweede_Klasse) club [RBC](/source/RBC_Roosendaal).

## Career

Born in [Rotterdam](/source/Rotterdam), Waslander played in the Netherlands and the United States for [Excelsior](/source/SBV_Excelsior), [Fort Lauderdale Strikers](/source/Fort_Lauderdale_Strikers_(1977%E2%80%931983)), [NAC Breda](/source/NAC_Breda), [PEC Zwolle](/source/PEC_Zwolle) and [DS'79](/source/FC_Dordrecht).[10][11]

Waslander holds the record for the quickest goal in the [Eredivisie](/source/Eredivisie), scoring after eight seconds.[12]

With the [Fort Lauderdale Strikers](/source/Fort_Lauderdale_Strikers_(1977%E2%80%931983)) he was a [Soccer Bowl '80](/source/Soccer_Bowl_'80) runner up. In the final, won 3-0 by [New York Cosmos](/source/New_York_Cosmos_(1970%E2%80%9385)) in September 1980, he entered the match as a substitute five minutes before half-time for the injured German striker [Gerd Müller](/source/Gerd_M%C3%BCller).[13]

## Coaching career

Waslander coached numerous teams in the Netherlands after his retirement, most notably [VV Spijkenisse](/source/VV_Spijkenisse),[1] [Leonidas](/source/RKSV_Leonidas),[7] and [RBC](/source/RBC_Roosendaal).[1] He also worked as an assistant and youth coach at [NAC Breda](/source/NAC_Breda).
