**Kolstad Church** ([Norwegian](/source/Norwegian_language): *Kolstad kirke*) is a [parish church](/source/Parish_church) of the [Church of Norway](/source/Church_of_Norway) in [Trondheim Municipality](/source/Trondheim_Municipality) in [Trøndelag](/source/Tr%C3%B8ndelag) county, [Norway](/source/Norway). It is located in the [Kolstad](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kolstad,_Trondheim&action=edit&redlink=1) area of the [city of Trondheim](/source/City_of_Trondheim),[1] about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) from the nearby [Heimdal Church](/source/Heimdal_Church). It is the church for the Kolstad [parish](/source/Parish) which is part of the [Heimdal og Byåsen prosti](/source/Heimdal_og_By%C3%A5sen_prosti) ([deanery](/source/Deanery)) in the [Diocese of Nidaros](/source/Diocese_of_Nidaros). The modern, concrete church was built in a [rectangular](/source/Churches_in_Norway#Floor_plan) design in 1986 using plans drawn up by the [architect](/source/Architect) [Nils Henrik Eggen](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nils_Henrik_Eggen&action=edit&redlink=1).[2] The church seats about 460 people.[3][4]

## History

The white, [concrete](/source/Concrete) building was built from 1985 to 1986 by the lead contractor Ole Stjern. The new building was [consecrated](/source/Consecrate) on 4 May 1986 by Bishop [Kristen Kyrre Bremer](/source/Kristen_Kyrre_Bremer). The [altarpiece](/source/Altarpiece) (from 1989) is made by Sigmund Lystrup out of old beams from the old [Grunge Church](/source/Grunge_Church) in [Vinje Municipality](/source/Vinje_Municipality) in [Telemark](/source/Telemark) county.[5][6]
