The neighbourhood's name likely relates with the Greek word *kolokythi* ("[zucchini](/source/Zucchini)") that was ordinary in the gardens. Today this area is an industrial zone between [Colonus](/source/Kolonos) and [Peristeri](/source/Peristeri).
