# Kolhi

The **Kolhi** (Sindhi: ڪولهي) is a subgroup of the [Koli](/source/Koli_people) caste native to [Sindh](/source/Sindh), [Pakistan](/source/Pakistan). Kolhis are mostly [Hindus](/source/Hindus) but some of them are [Koli Christians](/source/Koli_Christians) or [Muslim Kolis](/source/Muslim_Kolis). They engage in agriculture; most of them are poor peasants and [sharecroppers](/source/Sharecropping).[1][2][3]

The Kolhi caste is said to have originated [Gujarat](/source/Gujarat). They migrated from there first to [Kutch](/source/Kutch_district), then to [Thar](/source/Thar_Desert) and [Parkar](/source/Tharparkar). Kolhis have subcastes such as [Thakor](/source/Thakor), Khant, [Baria](/source/Baria_caste) and [Chunvalia](/source/Chunvalia_Koli).[4]

## Divisions

There are four communities of Kolhis in Sindh; firstly Parkari Kolhis, who are native to [Nangarparker](/source/Nagarparkar_Tehsil) region and who speak [Parkari Koli](/source/Parkari_Koli_language) language, secondly Kutchi Kolhi, who migrated from [Kutch](/source/Kutch_district) district of India to Sindh, and who speak the [Kachhi Kolhi](/source/Kachi_Koli_language) language and live in [Mirpurkhas](/source/Mirpur_Khas_District), [Hyderabad](/source/Hyderabad_District,_Sindh), and [Tando Allahyar](/source/Tando_Allahyar_District) districts of Sindh,[5] thirdly Wadiyara Kolhi who came from Wadiyar in [Gujarat](/source/Gujarat) state and speak [Wadiyari Kolhi](/source/Wadiyara_Koli_language), and fourthly Tharadari Kolhi, who originated in [Tharad](/source/Tharad) city, in Gujarat.[6][7] The kolhi women get a unique tattoo on their arms, neck and face.
