The Salem Avalanche played here briefly in 1995 until they moved to the [Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium](/source/Salem_Memorial_Baseball_Stadium). The stadium has commanding views of the [Blue Ridge Mountains](/source/Blue_Ridge_Mountains), particularly [Twelve O'clock Knob](/source/Twelve_O'clock_Knob_(Roanoke_County%2C_Virginia)). Until the [Salem Football Stadium](/source/Salem_Football_Stadium) opened in 1985, Kiwanis Field served as the home football field for [Salem High School](/source/Salem_High_School_(Salem%2C_Virginia)) and its predecessor Andrew Lewis High School.
