"**King of Snake**" is a song by [Underworld](/source/Underworld_(band)). It was played live many times in improv versions, then released on two [promo](/source/Promotional_recording)-only [12-inch singles](/source/12-inch_single). This was the second single released from the album *[Beaucoup Fish](/source/Beaucoup_Fish)*. The song contains an [interpolation](/source/Interpolation_(popular_music)) of the bassline from the [Donna Summer](/source/Donna_Summer) single "[I Feel Love](/source/I_Feel_Love)". The single peaked on the UK Singles Chart at number 17.[2]

## Critical reception

Paul Cooper of *Pitchfork* gave the single a positive review, writing "I have to wonder if 'King of Snake' is such a smoking choon that nobody--not even that geezer from [Adamski](/source/Adamski)--could screw it up. At the moment, unfortunately, these are important singles and consequently about nine dollars apiece. But I assure you, while you might find pretenders of the throne, there is only the one King of Snake."[3]
