**Khulna-5** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh).

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Dumuria](/source/Dumuria_Upazila) and [Phultala](/source/Phultala_Upazila) upazilas, [Khan Jahan Ali Thana](/source/Khan_Jahan_Ali_Thana), Gilatala Cantonment, and [Atra Gilatala Union](/source/Atra_Gilatala_Union), integrating these areas within a single administrative and electoral boundary.[1][2]

## History

The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973.

Salah Uddin Yusuf died in 2000. Narayan Chandra Chandu was elected in a December 2000 by-election.[13][14]
