**Khulna-3** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh). [Rakibul Islam](/source/Rakibul_Islam_(politician)) is the incumbent member of Parliament.

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses wards 1 through 15 of [Khulna City Corporation](/source/Khulna_City_Corporation), as well as two [union parishads](/source/Union_parishad) of [Dighalia Upazila](/source/Dighalia_Upazila): Aronghata and Jogipole integrating these areas within a single administrative and electoral boundary.[1]

## History

The constituency was created for the first general elections in newly independent Bangladesh, held in 1973.

Ahead of the [2008 general election](/source/2008_Bangladeshi_general_election), the [Election Commission](/source/Bangladesh_Election_Commission) redrew constituency boundaries to reflect population changes revealed by the [2001 Bangladesh census](/source/2001_Bangladesh_census).[2] The 2008 redistricting altered the boundaries of the constituency.[3]

Ahead of the [2018 general election](/source/2018_Bangladeshi_general_election), the Election Commission expanded the boundaries of the constituency by adding one union parishad of Dighalia Upazila: Aronghata.[1][4][5]
