**Khlong Bang Bon** ([Thai](/source/Thai_language): คลองบางบอน, pronounced [\[kʰlɔ̄ːŋ bāːŋ bɔ̄ːn\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Thai)) is a *[khwaeng](/source/Khwaeng)* (subdistrict) of [Bang Bon District](/source/Bang_Bon_District) in southwest [Bangkok](/source/Bangkok).

## History

Khlong Bang Bon in the past was part of Bang Bon Subdistrict in [Bang Khun Thian District](/source/Bang_Khun_Thian_District). Subsequently, on March 6, 1998, the [Ministry of Interior](/source/Ministry_of_Interior_(Thailand)) transferred Bang Bon Subdistrict to the newly established [Bang Bon District](/source/Bang_Bon_District).[3]

Later, on July 26, 2017, the [Bangkok Metropolitan Administration](/source/Bangkok_Metropolitan_Administration) (BMA) announced the dissolution of Bang Bon Subdistrict and the establishment of four new subdistricts using the east side of [Kanchanaphisek Road](/source/Kanchanaphisek_Road) (Motorway 9) and the north side of [Ekkachai Road](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ekkachai_Road&action=edit&redlink=1) (Highway 3242) as the demarcation line between them.[4]

The lower northeastern area of the former Bang Bon Subdistrict was named Khlong Bang Bon Subdistrict, after the local [canal](/source/Khlong) Khlong Bang Bon that flows through the area along the northeast-southwest.

## Geography

Its neighbours, clockwise from north, are [Khlong Bang Phran](/source/Khlong_Bang_Phran) in its district (Ekkachai Road is a demarcation line), [Bang Khun Thian](/source/Bang_Khun_Thian_Subdistrict) in [Chom Thong District](/source/Chom_Thong_district%2C_Bangkok) (Khlong Wat Sing is a demarcation line), [Samae Dam](/source/Samae_Dam) in [Bang Khun Thian District](/source/Bang_Khun_Thian_District) ([Maeklong Railway](/source/Maeklong_Railway) is a demarcation line), and [Bang Bon Tai](/source/Bang_Bon_Tai) in its district (Kanchanaphisek Road is a demarcation line).[4]
