# Khelaram Chakrabarty

**Khelaram Chakrabarty** (Bengali: খেলারাম চক্রবর্তী; c. 16th century) was a [Bengali](/source/Bengali_language) poet and is considered one of the earliest poets of [Dharmamangalkavya](/source/Dharmamangalkavya) tradition.[1] His poem, *Gourkavya*, which is now available only in fragments,[2] was written in 1527.[2] It is assumed by the historians that he lived at Badangunge village near [Arambagh](/source/Arambagh) in modern-day [Hooghly district](/source/Hooghly_district) in the [Indian](/source/India) state of Paschimbanga ([West Bengal](/source/West_Bengal)).[3]
