# Khanbu

**Khanbu** is a [populated place](/source/Populated_place) located in [Triyuga municipality](/source/Triyuga) of [Udayapur District](/source/Udayapur_District) in [Province No. 1](/source/Province_No._1) of [Nepal](/source/Nepal).[1] At the time of [2011 Nepal census](/source/2011_Nepal_census) it had a population of 4,350 people living in 782 individual households.[2]

Previously, Khanbu was a separate [village development committee](/source/Village_development_committee_(Nepal)) in [Udayapur District](/source/Udayapur_District) of [Sagarmatha Zone](/source/Sagarmatha_Zone) in [Eastern Region](/source/Eastern_Development_Region,_Nepal) of [Nepal](/source/Nepal). At the time of the [1991 Nepal census](/source/1991_Nepal_census) it had a population of 3,271 people living in 557 individual households.[3]

Fulfilling the requirement of the new [Constitution of Nepal 2015](/source/Constitution_of_Nepal_2015), [MoFALD](/source/Ministry_of_Federal_Affairs_and_Local_Development_(Nepal)) replaced all old [VDCs](/source/Village_development_committee_(Nepal)) and Municipalities into 753 new local level body ([Municipality](/source/List_of_cities_in_Nepal)), thus Khanbu was merged with [Triyuga](/source/Triyuga) Municipality.
