Thaw has climbed notable routes and added many first ascents since commencing in Britain's [Peak District](/source/Peak_District) then relocating to [California](/source/California) and journeying extensively through: [Yosemite](/source/Yosemite), [El Capitan](/source/El_Capitan), Argentine [Patagonia](/source/Patagonia), the [Himalaya](/source/Himalaya), [Alaska](/source/Alaska), [Canadian Rockies](/source/Canadian_Rockies), [Alps](/source/Alps), [Mount Everest](/source/Mount_Everest) North side, summit June 2007.

In 2007, he joined the Altitude Everest Expedition 2007, led by renowned American climber and mountaineer, [Conrad Anker](/source/Conrad_Anker), retracing the last steps of legendary British climber, [George Mallory](/source/George_Mallory), on Everest.
