# Kevin Lauderdale

**Kevin Lauderdale** is an American [science fiction author](/source/Science_fiction_author) primarily known for his *[Star Trek](/source/Star_Trek)* short stories, which began with publication in the *[Strange New Worlds](/source/Star_Trek:_Strange_New_Worlds_(short_story_collection))* anthology series. His stories appeared in three successive volumes of the series, making him eligible for a "Wardy," named for fellow *Strange New Worlds* veteran [Dayton Ward](/source/Dayton_Ward).

In addition to his *[Star Trek](/source/Star_Trek)* work, he has published essays and articles in *The Dictionary of American Biography* (now known as *The Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives*), the *[Los Angeles Times](/source/Los_Angeles_Times)*, *Bride Again*, *Animato!*, *Pulse!*, and [McSweeney's Internet Tendency](/source/McSweeney's_Internet_Tendency), as well as poetry in [Andrei Codrescu](/source/Andrei_Codrescu)'s *[Exquisite Corpse](/source/Exquisite_Corpse_(magazine))*.

He was formerly the writer of "The Kevindex", a book review website, from 1996 to 2001. That site is now down, and only one piece of content is still available online in archived form: "An Annotated Guide to *[The Two Georges](/source/The_Two_Georges)* by [Richard Dreyfuss](/source/Richard_Dreyfuss) and [Harry Turtledove](/source/Harry_Turtledove)."

Born in [Los Angeles, California](/source/Los_Angeles,_California), Lauderdale holds a [bachelor's degree](/source/Bachelor's_degree) in English literature from [UCLA](/source/University_of_California,_Los_Angeles) and a [master's degree](/source/Master's_degree) in the same field from [San Francisco State University](/source/San_Francisco_State_University), as well as a [Master of Library and Information Science](/source/Master_of_Library_and_Information_Science) degree (also from UCLA). He currently lives in northern [Virginia](/source/Virginia) with his wife and two dogs.
