**Kerry Anna Godliman** (born 1973) is an English actress and comedian. She has appeared in TV roles in *[Derek](/source/Derek_(TV_series))*, *[Bad Move](/source/Bad_Move)*, and *[After Life](/source/After_Life_(TV_series))*.

## Early life

Godliman was born in 1973[1] in [Perivale](/source/Perivale), [West London](/source/West_London),[2] and trained at [Rose Bruford College](/source/Rose_Bruford_College) in [South London](/source/South_London).[3]

## Career

### Television

In the first decade of the 2000s, Godliman appeared in a variety of television productions, including *[Spoons](/source/Spoons_(TV_series))*, *[Law of the Playground](/source/Law_of_the_Playground)*, *[Rush Hour](/source/Rush_Hour_(UK_TV_series))*, *[Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow](/source/Michael_McIntyre's_Comedy_Roadshow)*, and *[Home Time](/source/Home_Time)*. She played Hannah in [Ricky Gervais](/source/Ricky_Gervais)'s [Channel 4](/source/Channel_4) sitcom *[Derek](/source/Derek_(TV_series))*,[4] Belinda Dawes in *[Our Girl](/source/Our_Girl)*,[5] and Liz Carter in *[Carters Get Rich](/source/Carters_Get_Rich)*.

In 2017, Godliman landed the role of Nicky in the [ITV](/source/ITV_(TV_network)) sitcom *[Bad Move](/source/Bad_Move)* and in 2018, she played Peggy Aytean in the Channel 4 computer game series *[Rob Beckett](/source/Rob_Beckett)'s Playing for Time*.[6] The same year, she won the seventh series of [Dave](/source/Dave_(TV_channel))'s comedy game show *[Taskmaster](/source/Taskmaster_(TV_series))*, beating [James Acaster](/source/James_Acaster), [Jessica Knappett](/source/Jessica_Knappett), [Phil Wang](/source/Phil_Wang), and [Rhod Gilbert](/source/Rhod_Gilbert). Between 2017 and 2019, she made a number of appearances on the celebrity panel show *[Mock the Week](/source/Mock_the_Week)*.

In 2019, Godliman appeared as Lisa in Ricky Gervais's black comedy series *[After Life](/source/After_Life_(TV_series))*.[7] She reprised her role in series two and three, in 2020 and 2022, respectively.[8] A year later, she played ex-MP Stella Maitland in the Channel 4 four-part drama series *[Adult Material](/source/Adult_Material)*. Since 2021, she has portrayed the lead character Pearl Nolan in the mystery series *[Whitstable Pearl](/source/Whitstable_Pearl)*.[9] Since 2022, she has appeared in the crime thriller series *[Trigger Point](/source/Trigger_Point_(TV_series))*.[10][11]

### Radio

In August 2014, Godliman made her first appearance on the long-running BBC Radio 4 quiz *[Just a Minute](/source/Just_a_Minute)*.[12] In 2017, she starred alongside [Stephanie Cole](/source/Stephanie_Cole) in an episode of *[John Finnemore](/source/John_Finnemore_(writer))'s Double Acts* on Radio 4 and (with [Marcus Brigstocke](/source/Marcus_Brigstocke)) in *The Wilsons Save the World*.

She also appeared as a guest on the [satirical](/source/Satirical) radio show *[The Now Show](/source/The_Now_Show)* to reflect on International Women's Day on 10 March 2017, and took part in episodes 3 and 4 of *[I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue](/source/I'm_Sorry_I_Haven't_a_Clue)*, series 70, that were recorded in [Woking](/source/Woking). She has appeared on *[The News Quiz](/source/The_News_Quiz)*.

### Stand-up comedy

Godliman in 2011

Godliman has performed as a stand-up comedian throughout her career, including several appearances on *[Live at the Apollo](/source/Live_at_the_Apollo_(TV_series))*, and she tours in this capacity.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] In January 2022, she performed her show *Bosh* at [Blackheath Halls](/source/Blackheath_Halls), London. In a review for *[The Guardian](/source/The_Guardian)*, writer Brian Logan praised the show, rating it 3/5 stars, and stating that the performance is filled with "vigour, charm and plenty [of] good gags".[13] Godliman's tour is expected to last several months across the UK.[14][15]

## Personal life

Godliman is married to actor Ben Abell. They have two children and live in [South London](/source/South_London).[16][17]
