**Kerrin Klaaste** (born 3 March 1998) is a South African [cricket umpire](/source/Cricket_umpire).[1] She is currently a member of [Development Panel of ICC Umpires](/source/Development_Panel_of_ICC_Umpires).[2][3] She was one of the female umpires named by the ICC to stand in matches in the [2023 Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup](/source/2023_Under-19_Women's_T20_World_Cup) tournament.[4][5]

## Personal life

She was born at [Kimberley](/source/Kimberley%2C_Northern_Cape), Northern Cape of South Africa and latter she moved to [Knysna](/source/Knysna).[6]

## Career

She played for Griqualand West (currently known as [Northern Cape](/source/Northern_Cape_women's_cricket_team)) in domestic cricket.[7] She became the first female umpire to win the South Western Districts Cricket Umpires’ Association (SWDCUA) Umpire of the Season award.[8]

In October 2022, she was first time added to the ICC's Development panel.[9][10] In June 2023, Klaaste was promoted to CSA Reserve Umpire Panel by [Cricket South Africa](/source/Cricket_South_Africa) (CSA).[11][12]

She was stood as an umpire in first [Women's Twenty20 International](/source/Women's_Twenty20_International) (WT20I) in the [2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Region Division Two Qualifier](/source/2023_ICC_Women's_T20_World_Cup_Africa_Qualifier), between [Malawi](/source/Malawi_women's_national_cricket_team) and [Lesotho](/source/Lesotho_women's_national_cricket_team) on 2 September 2023.[13][14] She was featured as umpire in first [Women's One Day International](/source/Women's_One_Day_International) (WODI) in between [South Africa](/source/South_Africa_women's_national_cricket_team) and [New Zealand](/source/New_Zealand_women's_national_cricket_team) when [New Zealand tour to South Africa](/source/New_Zealand_women's_cricket_team_in_South_Africa_in_2023%E2%80%9324) on 28 September 2023.[14] She was featured in [List A](/source/List_A_cricket) matches in the [2023 CSA One-Day Cup](/source/2023_CSA_One-Day_Cup) and she stood in her first List A match on 16 September 2023, between [South Western Districts](/source/South_Western_Districts_(cricket_team)) and [Knights](/source/Knights_(cricket_team)).[15][16] She stood in her maiden [first-class cricket](/source/First-class_cricket) match on 9 November 2023, between Knights and [Northern Cape](/source/Northern_Cape_(cricket_team)) in the [2023–24 CSA 4-Day Series](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_CSA_4-Day_Series).[17][18] She stood in her first [Twenty20](/source/Twenty20) match on 12 March 2024, between South Western Districts and [Easterns](/source/Easterns_(cricket_team)) in the [2024 CSA Provincial T20 Cup](/source/2024_CSA_Provincial_T20_Cup_(March)).[19][20] She also stood as an on-field umpire in [2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier](/source/2024_ICC_Women's_T20_World_Cup_Qualifier) Final, which was held between Scotland and Sri Lanka, on 7 May 2024.[21]

In September 2024, she first time stood as an on-field umpire in [men's T20I](/source/Twenty20_International) between [Malawi](/source/Malawi_national_cricket_team) and [Lesotho](/source/Lesotho_national_cricket_team) in [2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Sub-regional Qualifier A](/source/2024_ICC_Men's_T20_World_Cup_Africa_Sub-regional_Qualifier_A).[22]
