# Kenneth Warner

**Kenneth Charles Harman Warner** (6 April 1891 – 18 March 1983) was [Bishop of Edinburgh](/source/Bishop_of_Edinburgh) from 1947 to 1961.[1]

## Biography

Warner was born on 6 April 1891 and educated at [Tonbridge School](/source/Tonbridge_School)[2] and [Trinity College, Oxford](/source/Trinity_College,_Oxford). His first career as a solicitor was interrupted by [wartime](/source/First_World_War) service with the [Army Cyclist Corps](/source/Army_Cyclist_Corps)[3] at the end of which he was awarded the [DSO](/source/Distinguished_Service_Order). [Ordained](/source/Ordained) after a period of study at [Ripon College Cuddesdon](/source/Ripon_College_Cuddesdon) in 1924, he began his career with a [curacy](/source/Curate) at St George's [Ramsgate](/source/Ramsgate). After this he was a [chaplain](/source/Chaplain) in the [Royal Air Force](/source/Royal_Air_Force)[4] flying on active service in his fifties[5] then [Provost](/source/Provost_(religion)) of [St. Mary's Cathedral, Glasgow](/source/St._Mary's_Cathedral,_Glasgow).[6] In 1938 he became [Archdeacon of Lincoln](/source/Archdeacon_of_Lincoln)[7] before his ordination to the [episcopate](/source/Episcopate). He died on 18 March 1983.[8]
