# Ken Bradshaw

American surfer

**Ken Bradshaw** (born October 4, 1952) is an American professional [surfer](/source/Surfer) and winner of the 1982 [Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship](/source/Duke_Kahanamoku_Invitational_Surfing_Championship).

Bradshaw was born in [Houston](/source/Houston), Texas. On January 28, 1998, Bradshaw successfully towed into and rode a wave with a face allegedly of about 80 feet (24 m).[1] The site was [Outside Log Cabins](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Outside_Log_Cabins&action=edit&redlink=1), an outer reef on the [North Shore](/source/North_Shore_(Oahu)) of [Oahu](/source/Oahu), Hawaii.[2] The ride lasted about 30 seconds.

Bradshaw took part in a [hypothermia](/source/Hypothermia) experiment for [Discovery Channel](/source/Discovery_Channel) which lasted for 4 hours at 0 °C (32 °F) without clothing. ## Lifestyle

Bradshaw is a [vegetarian](/source/Vegetarian).[3] He was [Layne Beachley](/source/Layne_Beachley)'s partner, helping her to become one of the world's top female surfers.[4]
