# Kempendyay

**Kempendyay** (Russian: Кемпендяй; sah: Кэмпэндээйи, *Kempendeeyi*) is a [rural locality](/source/Types_of_inhabited_localities_in_Russia) (a *[selo](/source/Village#Russia)*), the administrative centre of and one of two settlements, in addition to [Chayygda](/source/Chayygda), in [Kempendyaysky Rural Okrug](/source/Kempendyaysky_Rural_Okrug) of [Suntarsky District](/source/Suntarsky_District) in the [Sakha Republic](/source/Sakha_Republic), [Russia](/source/Russia). Its population as of the [2002 Census](/source/Russian_Census_(2002)) was 483.[1]

## Geography

The village is located by the banks of the [Kempendyay](/source/Kempendyay_(river)), a tributary of the [Vilyuy](/source/Vilyuy), 55 kilometers (34 mi) from [Suntar](/source/Suntar_(rural_locality)), the administrative center of the district.[2][3]
