**M. Keith Chen** is a [Chinese American](/source/Chinese_American) [behavioral economist](/source/Behavioral_economics). As of 2020, he is a tenured professor of economics at [UCLA](/source/UCLA)'s [Anderson School of Management](/source/UCLA_Anderson_School_of_Management).

Chen holds a Ph.D. in economics from [Harvard University](/source/Harvard_University) (2003). From 2003 to 2008 he was an [assistant professor](/source/Assistant_professor) of economics at the [Yale School of Management](/source/Yale_School_of_Management), and an [associate professor](/source/Associate_professor) there from 2008[1] until he transferred to UCLA in 2013 as associate professor.

Chen's research focuses on applied [microeconomic theory](/source/Microeconomic_theory). His [Whorfian hypothesis](/source/Whorfian_hypothesis) on how languages might affect behavior has received attention outside academia.[2][3]

He is married to Elisa Long, associate professor of operations management at UCLA.[4]
