**Kechut** ([Armenian](/source/Armenian_language): Կեչուտ) is a village in the [Jermuk Municipality](/source/Jermuk_Municipality) of the [Vayots Dzor Province](/source/Vayots_Dzor_Province) of [Armenia](/source/Armenia).

## Toponymy

The village was previously known as *Kushchi*, and *Kush-Bilyak*.

## Geography

The village is located to the immediate south of the town of [Jermuk](/source/Jermuk), on the western coast of the Kechut Reservoir which is a section of the [Arpa](/source/Arpa_(river)) river, as well as at the beginning of the Kechut–[Azatek](/source/Azatek) waterway, which is one of the artificial waterways that provide water to [Lake Sevan](/source/Lake_Sevan) and stabilize its water level.
