# Keadue, County Donegal

**Keadue** () is a [townland](/source/Townland) in [County Donegal](/source/County_Donegal), [Ireland](/source/Republic_of_Ireland). It is in the [Rosses](/source/The_Rosses) region of northwest [County Donegal](/source/County_Donegal), on the [R259](/source/Regional_road_(Ireland)) road on the [Wild Atlantic Way](/source/Wild_Atlantic_Way), about halfway between the fishing villages of [Burtonport](/source/Burtonport) and [Kincasslagh](/source/Kincasslagh) on the [Atlantic](/source/Atlantic_Ocean) coast.

## Sport

Keadue is most well known for its [football](/source/Association_football) team, [Keadue Rovers](/source/Keadue_Rovers_F.C.), who play their home games at Central Park in Keadue.[1] Ireland goalkeeper, [Packie Bonner](/source/Packie_Bonner), from nearby Cloughglass, started his career at [Keadue](/source/Keadue_Rovers_F.C.).

The local [GAA](/source/Gaelic_Athletic_Association) team is [Dungloe GAA](/source/C.L.G._An_Cloch%C3%A1n_Liath), who play 8 km away in [Dungloe](/source/Dungloe).[2] Gaelic football All-Star, [Tony Boyle](/source/Tony_Boyle_(Gaelic_footballer)), member of the 1992 [Donegal](/source/Donegal_GAA) [All-Ireland](/source/1992_All-Ireland_Senior_Football_Championship_Final) winning team, was born in Keadue.

Former [UFC](/source/Ultimate_Fighting_Championship) [mixed martial artist](/source/Mixed_martial_arts) [Joseph Duffy](/source/Joseph_Duffy_(fighter)) is from Meenbanad, the bordering townland.[3]

## Language

Keadue is in the [Gaeltacht](/source/Gaeltacht) region, which means the official language of the area is [Irish](/source/Irish_language). However, the use of Irish has been in decline since the 1950s.[4]

The local [national school](/source/National_school_(Ireland)) is *Keadue National School ()* with 20 pupils,[5] and the nearest [secondary school](/source/Community_school_(Ireland)) is *Rosses Community School* in [Dungloe](/source/Dungloe).[6]

## Music

Since 1888, Keadue has been home to *The Keadue Band*, one of many marching [fife and drum bands](/source/Fife_and_drum_corps) from the area.[7]

Keadue is situated 10 km from [Donegal Regional Airport](/source/Donegal_Airport) which is serviced by daily [Aer Lingus](/source/Aer_Lingus) flights to [Dublin Airport](/source/Dublin_Airport) and also does a flight to [Glasgow](/source/Glasgow). The region has one bus stop run by [TFI local link](/source/TFI_Local_Link), 961 [Crolly](/source/Crolly)/[Letterkenny](/source/Letterkenny) runs to Keadue
