'''Kayonza''' is a small town in [Kayonza district](/source/Kayonza_(district)), [Eastern Province](/source/Eastern_Province%2C_Rwanda), [Rwanda](/source/Rwanda).

The town is centred on a roundabout, where the road east from [Kigali](/source/Kigali) splits into the road running north to the [Uganda](/source/Uganda)n border, and the road south to [Tanzania](/source/Tanzania). It is a major transport hub because of this junction, where a sizeable taxi-minibus park and terminus offers the Okapi, Atraco and Stella express services. It is also used as an overnight rest stop for truck drivers from Tanzania to Kigali and beyond. A small [hotel](/source/hotel) provides basic accommodation, and there are two [petrol pumps](/source/Fuel_dispenser), a [conference centre](/source/conference_centre), a twice-weekly [market](/source/Market_(place)) and various bars and television halls.

It is also one of the sites the company [Zipline](/source/Zipline_(drone_delivery)) uses for delivering supplies to medical centres around the area using drones.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://ktpress.rw/2019/01/new-drone-port-begins-operating-in-eastern-rwanda/|title=New Drone Port Begins Operating in Eastern Rwanda|date=2019-01-31|website=KT PRESS|language=en-US|access-date=2019-12-18}}</ref>

Kayonza now has a Women's Opportunity Center. It was designed by architect Sharon Davis, with funding provided by Women for Women International which is based in Washington D.C. The November 2013 issue of the magazine Architectural Digest shares the story and images from Kayonza.<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://www.architecturaldigest.com/architecture/2013-11/sharon-davis-architectural-design-womens-opportunity-center-kayonza-rWanda |title=Women's Opportunity Center |access-date=2023-03-27 |archive-date=2015-06-10 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150610221824/http://www.architecturaldigest.com/architecture/2013-11/sharon-davis-architectural-design-womens-opportunity-center-kayonza-rwanda |url-status=dead }}</ref>
