# Kaushalendra Kumar

**Kaushalendra Kumar** is a [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament)[1] for the [Nalanda](/source/Nalanda_(Lok_Sabha_constituency)) constituency of the India [Lok Sabha](/source/Lok_Sabha). He is a representative of the [Janata Dal (United)](/source/Janata_Dal_(United)) party. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in the [2009 Indian general election](/source/2009_Indian_general_election), when he succeeded and was nominated by [Nitish Kumar](/source/Nitish_Kumar) in the constituency. He again won the [Nalanda seat](/source/Nalanda_(Lok_Sabha_constituency)) in the [2014 Indian general election](/source/2014_Indian_general_election).[2] He won by a narrow margin of 9,627 votes.[3] In the [2019 general election](/source/2019_Indian_general_election), he got a record 540,888 votes and defeated his nearest rival by 256,137 votes.

## Personal life

He is a supporter of [agrarian](/source/Agrarian_reform) and [social reform](/source/Social_reformer).[4] His father was a farmer. Kaushalendra Kumar is married to Raveena Kumari in 1979. The couple has two sons.[5] His wife is a [District Council](/source/District_Councils_of_India) member from Nalanda.[5][6] He is a member of [Kurmi](/source/Kurmi) caste.[7]

He also has an [Agriculture Education](/source/Agriculture_Education) from Kisan College, Sohsarai, [Nalanda](/source/Nalanda).[8]
