'''Katzweiler''' ({{IPA|de|ˈkatsvaɪlɐ}}) is a municipality in the [district of Kaiserslautern](/source/Kaiserslautern_(district)), in [Rhineland-Palatinate](/source/Rhineland-Palatinate), western [Germany](/source/Germany).

== History ==
The municipality was first mentioned in 1190 as ''Cazwilere''. Until the end of the 18th Century, it was part of the [Electoral Palatinate](/source/Electoral_Palatinate) and under the jurisdiction of the Lautern Superior Court. 

From 1798 to 1814, when the [Palatinate region](/source/Palatinate_(region)) was part of the [French First Republic](/source/French_First_Republic) (until 1804) und thereafter of the [First French Empire](/source/First_French_Empire), the municipality was incorporated into the [Kanton Otterberg](/source/Kanton_Otterberg). In 1815 the village belonged to [Austria](/source/Austria), but changed to the [Kingdom of Bavaria](/source/Kingdom_of_Bavaria) already in 1816.

In 1939, it became part of the [Kaiserslautern district](/source/Kaiserslautern_(district)). Following [World War II](/source/World_War_II), it was within the [French Zone of Occupation](/source/French_Zone_of_Occupation) that formed the new state of [Rhineland-Palatinate](/source/Rhineland-Pfalz) in 1946.

In the course of the first administrative reforms in Rheinland-Pfalz, the municipality became part of the newly formed [Verbandsgemeinde](/source/Verbandsgemeinde) [Otterbach](/source/Otterbach) in 1971. Since July 1, 2014, it is part of the Verbandsgemeinde Otterbach-Otterberg .
