At the Indian box office, the film grossed ₹80 million (US$9.2 million) in 1981,[1] equivalent to an estimated ₹3.8 billion (US$40 million) adjusted for inflation in 2023.[a] Retrospectively, the film is best known for its hit music and several [exploitation film](/source/Exploitation_film) gimmicks. Capitalizing on [Bruce Lee](/source/Bruce_Lee)'s popularity in India, the film exploited the [Bruceploitation](/source/Bruceploitation) trend from [Hong Kong action cinema](/source/Hong_Kong_action_cinema), with the appearance of Bruce Lee lookalike [Bruce Le](/source/Bruce_Le) in the film.
