**Katherine Remillard** (born January 18, 1994, in [Winnipeg](/source/Winnipeg), as **Katherine Doerksen**) is a [Canadian](/source/Canadians) [curler](/source/Curling) from [St. Jean Baptiste](/source/St._Jean_Baptiste%2C_Manitoba), [Manitoba](/source/Manitoba).[1] She currently plays [second](/source/Second_(curling)) on Team [Kelsey Calvert](/source/Kelsey_Calvert).

## Career

Remillard joined the [Breanne Meakin](/source/Breanne_Knapp) rink at third out of juniors. The team, with third [Briane Meilleur](/source/Briane_Harris) and lead [Krysten Karwacki](/source/Krysten_Karwacki) played in the [2013 Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Women's Classic](/source/2013_Manitoba_Liquor_%26_Lotteries_Women's_Classic) [Grand Slam of Curling](/source/Grand_Slam_of_Curling) event where they finished 1–3. However, their one victory came against former world champion [Mirjam Ott](/source/Mirjam_Ott) of Switzerland.[2] The team played in one other Slam that season, the [2013 Colonial Square Ladies Classic](/source/2013_Colonial_Square_Ladies_Classic). In that event, the team was much more successful, going 5–2 to qualify and defeating world number eight ranked [Chelsea Carey](/source/Chelsea_Carey). However, they then lost in the quarterfinals to [Allison Flaxey](/source/Allison_Flaxey).[3] After the season, Remillard left the team to join the [Rachel Kaatz](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rachel_Kaatz&action=edit&redlink=1) rink at lead. This arrangement only lasted one season, with Remillard then reuniting with Meilleur and Karwacki on a new team skipped by [Cathy Overton-Clapham](/source/Cathy_Overton-Clapham). On tour, the team played in one Slam, the [2015 GSOC Tour Challenge](/source/2015_GSOC_Tour_Challenge), losing in a tiebreaker to [Michelle Montford](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Michelle_Montford&action=edit&redlink=1).[4] Later in the season, the team qualified for the [2016 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2016_Manitoba_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts), Remillard's first appearance at the championship. At provincials, Team Overton-Clapham finished 6–1 through the round robin to qualify for the 3 vs. 4 page playoff game. They then lost 7–3 to [Shannon Birchard](/source/Shannon_Birchard), finishing fourth.[5]

For the [2016–17 season](/source/2016%E2%80%9317_curling_season), Remillard remained with Overton-Clapham and the pair brought on [Jenna Loder](/source/Jenna_Loder) and [Sarah Pyke](/source/Sarah_Pyke) at third and lead respectively. On tour, the team saw limited success, only qualifying in one of their seven tour events.[6] While they did earn a berth into the [2017 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2017_Manitoba_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts), they ultimately missed the playoffs with a 4–3 record.[7] Overton-Clapham then left the team and was replaced at skip by [Rhonda Varnes](/source/Rhonda_Varnes). This team had slightly better results, reaching the final of [The Sunova Spiel at East St. Paul](/source/MCT_Showdown) and the semifinals of the [Icebreaker at The Granite](/source/Icebreaker_Challenge). After failing to qualify for the provincial championship, the team disbanded.

For the [2018–19 season](/source/2018%E2%80%9319_curling_season), Remillard and Loder teamed up with [Beth Peterson](/source/Beth_Peterson) and [Melissa Gordon](/source/Melissa_Gordon-Kurz). The team had three semifinal finishes on the tour and won the Manitoba Scotties Berth Bonspiel to qualify for the [2019 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2019_Manitoba_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts). There, the team had a strong showing, finishing 5–2 through the round robin and qualifying for a tiebreaker against [Abby Ackland](/source/Abby_Ackland). Despite tying the game in the seventh end, Team Peterson would give up three points in the eighth end, ultimately losing the game 8–7.[8] The [2019–20 season](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_curling_season) was a successful season for the Peterson rink as they qualified for the playoffs in eight of their ten events. They also got to play in their first [Grand Slam of Curling](/source/Grand_Slam_of_Curling) event at the [2019 Tour Challenge](/source/2019_Tour_Challenge) Tier 2 where they lost in the semifinal to South Korea's [Kim Min-ji](/source/Kim_Min-ji_(curler)).[9] Despite entering the [2020 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2020_Manitoba_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts) as the fourth seed, Team Peterson finished the round robin with a 2–3 record, failing to reach the championship pool round.[10][11]

Due to the [COVID-19 pandemic in Canada](/source/COVID-19_pandemic_in_Canada), many provinces had to cancel their provincial championships, with member associations selecting their representatives for the [2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2021_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts). Due to this situation, [Curling Canada](/source/Curling_Canada) added three Wild Card teams to the national championship, which were chosen according to the [CTRS standings](/source/CTRS_standings) from the [2019–20 season](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_curling_season).[12] Because Team Peterson ranked 12th on the CTRS[13] and kept at least three of their four players together for the [2020–21 season](/source/2020%E2%80%9321_curling_season), they got the third Wild Card spot at the 2021 Scotties in [Calgary](/source/Calgary), [Alberta](/source/Alberta).[14] One member of Peterson's rink, [Melissa Gordon](/source/Melissa_Gordon-Kurz) opted to not attend the Scotties due to work commitments.[15] She was replaced by [Brittany Tran](/source/Brittany_Tran), who competed at the Scotties in 2019 as second for the Northwest Territories. At the Tournament of Hearts, Peterson led her team to a respectable 7–5 fifth-place finish.[16]

In their first event of the [2021–22 season](/source/2021%E2%80%9322_curling_season), Team Peterson reached the final of the [Mother Club Fall Curling Classic](/source/Mother_Club_Fall_Curling_Classic) where they lost to [Mackenzie Zacharias](/source/Mackenzie_Zacharias).[17] They were then semifinalists at the [Atkins Curling Supplies Classic](/source/Atkins_Curling_Supplies_Classic). With their successful results over the past few seasons, Team Peterson had enough points to qualify for the [2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Pre-Trials](/source/2021_Canadian_Olympic_Curling_Pre-Trials).[18] There, the team missed the playoffs after a 1–5 record.[19] At the [2022 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2022_Manitoba_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts), the team began with two straight wins before losing the rest of their games, finishing just outside the playoffs at 2–3.[20] Team Peterson rounded out their season at the [2022 Best of the West](/source/2022_Best_of_the_West) where they lost in the final to [Corryn Brown](/source/Corryn_Brown).[21]

To begin the [2022–23 season](/source/2022%E2%80%9323_curling_season), Team Peterson qualified for the playoffs at three straight events. They began with a semifinal finish at the Mother Club Fall Curling Classic before winning the Atkins Curling Supplies Classic.[22] The team then played in the [2022 Western Showdown](/source/2022_Western_Showdown), however, with [Robyn Silvernagle](/source/Robyn_Silvernagle) sparing for Peterson at skip. At the event, the team defeated many higher seeds such as [Kim Eun-jung](/source/Kim_Eun-jung_(curler)), [Clancy Grandy](/source/Clancy_Grandy) and [Isabella Wranå](/source/Isabella_Wran%C3%A5), ultimately losing in the semifinals to [Silvana Tirinzoni](/source/Silvana_Tirinzoni).[23] Team Peterson had a strong showing at the [2023 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2023_Manitoba_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts), beginning with a 4–1 record through the round robin. They went on to finish 5–3 after the championship round and then lost a tiebreaker to [Meghan Walter](/source/Meghan_Walter) to advance to the playoffs.[24] The team ended their season at the Best of the West where they were again defeated by Corryn Brown in the championship game. Peterson was replaced by [Kelsey Rocque](/source/Kelsey_Rocque) for the event.[25]

For the [2023–24 season](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_curling_season), Team Peterson added Kelsey Rocque to their lineup at third with Jenna Loder shifting to alternate. On tour, the team found moderate success, as they won the [MCT Shootout](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MCT_Shootout&action=edit&redlink=1) in September and the [MCT Championships](/source/MCT_Championships) in January.[26] They also reached a pair of semifinals and made it to the quarterfinals of the [Red Deer Curling Classic](/source/Red_Deer_Curling_Classic), before losing to the country's number one ranked team, [Rachel Homan](/source/Rachel_Homan), who ultimately won the event.[24] At the [2024 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2024_Manitoba_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts), Team Peterson made it to the championship round with a 3–2 record, and then won four straight to earn a spot in the semifinal, where they defeated [Kate Cameron](/source/Kate_Cameron_(curler)) 8–4. That put them up into the final against [Kaitlyn Lawes](/source/Kaitlyn_Lawes) and in a very tight game, they lost 9–8.[27] The following season, they defended their title at the MCT Championships and lost the final of the MCT Curling Cup and the MCT Showdown. They also competed in the [2024 Tour Challenge](/source/2024_Tour_Challenge) Tier 2 where they lost in the quarterfinals to [Sayaka Yoshimura](/source/Sayaka_Yoshimura).[28] At the [2025 RME Women of the Rings](/source/2025_RME_Women_of_the_Rings), the provincial championship, Team Peterson finished 5–3 through the round robin and championship pools, earning a tiebreaker berth where they eliminated [Hailey McFarlane](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Hailey_McFarlane&action=edit&redlink=1). They then beat Darcy Robertson in the semifinal before coming up short again in the final to Kate Cameron, finishing second.[29]

Team Peterson began the [2025–26 season](/source/2025%E2%80%9326_curling_season) at the [2025 Masters](/source/2025_Masters_(September)) Tier 2 Grand Slam where they finished 1–3. Next, the team played in the [2025 PointsBet Invitational](/source/2025_PointsBet_Invitational), qualifying through the CTRS rankings.[30] There, they finished 2–2, securing wins over Kaitlyn Lawes and [Myla Plett](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Myla_Plett&action=edit&redlink=1).[31] They then played in the [2025 Canadian Olympic Curling Pre-Trials](/source/2025_Canadian_Olympic_Curling_Pre-Trials) where they had a disappointing last place finish.[32] After the event, Peterson and third Kelsey Calvert switched positions, with Calvert taking over as skip of the team prior to the [2026 RME Women of the Rings](/source/2026_RME_Women_of_the_Rings).[33] This switch paid off as after losing the final for two consecutive years, Remillard won her first Manitoba Women's Championship, beating Team Lawes 9–7 in the final.[34] This earned the team the right to represent Manitoba at the [2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts](/source/2026_Scotties_Tournament_of_Hearts) in [Mississauga](/source/Mississauga), [Ontario](/source/Ontario). At the 2026 Scotties, Team Peterson would finish round-robin play with a perfect 8–0 record, qualifying for the playoffs. However in the playoffs, they would then lose to [Kerri Einarson](/source/Kerri_Einarson) and [Selena Sturmay](/source/Selena_Sturmay), finishing in 5th place.

## Personal life

Remillard was born in [Winnipeg](/source/Winnipeg) but grew up in [Morden, Manitoba](/source/Morden%2C_Manitoba).[35] She is employed as a procurement manager at The North West Company. She is married, and has a son.[1] Remillard previously attended the [University of Manitoba](/source/University_of_Manitoba).[35]
