# Kate Kearins

**Kate Kearins** is a New Zealand business academic. She is a [Professor](/source/Professor) at [Auckland University of Technology](/source/Auckland_University_of_Technology).[1]

## Academic career

Kearins has multiple degrees from the [University of Waikato](/source/University_of_Waikato), including a 1997 [PhD](/source/PhD) titled*'Local government power relations : a genealogical study'*and an [MA](/source/Master_of_Arts) in French from [Massey University](/source/Massey_University). She co-authored 'Thesis Survivor Stories: Practical Advice on Getting Through Your PhD or Masters Thesis' with [Marilyn Waring](/source/Marilyn_Waring).[1]

Since 2003 she has been working at [Auckland University of Technology](/source/Auckland_University_of_Technology) rising to full professor.[1]

Kearins' research focuses on sustainability.[2][3]

Kearins is involved in Catholic tertiary education at a national level.[4]
