# Kate Baines

**Kate Baines** (born 18 July 1978) is an English actress, born in Doncaster. She has appeared in the [Channel 4](/source/Channel_4) British soap opera's *[Hollyoaks](/source/Hollyoaks)* (as Beth Morgan #2), *[Coronation Street](/source/Coronation_Street)* and *[Emmerdale](/source/Emmerdale)* (as Joanne). Kate has also appeared in dramas including *[At Home with the Braithwaites](/source/At_Home_with_the_Braithwaites)*, *[Peak Practice](/source/Peak_Practice)* and *City Central*. In June 2020, she appeared in an episode of the [BBC](/source/BBC_One) soap opera *[Doctors](/source/Doctors_(2000_TV_series))* as [Claire Mortimer](/source/List_of_Doctors_characters_(2020)#Claire_Mortimer).[1]

Baines trained at [Bretton Hall College](/source/Bretton_Hall_College_of_Education) and gained a [BA](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) (Hons) in Performing Arts (1996–1999). She has also appeared in many stage plays and regularly performs for the Hull Truck Theatre Company.
