# Karl Treiber

**Karl Treiber** (born 4 December 1955) is a former New Zealand [cricketer](/source/Cricket). He played in 27 [first-class](/source/First-class_cricket) and 15 [List A](/source/List_A_cricket) matches for [Northern Districts](/source/Northern_Districts_men's_cricket_team) from 1979 to 1988.[1]

Treiber was born in [Slovenia](/source/Socialist_Republic_of_Slovenia) in 1955 when it was part of [Yugoslavia](/source/Yugoslavia), and migrated with his parents to New Zealand when he was a boy.[2] He was a left-arm bowler who could bowl orthodox spin or fast-medium.[3] His best first-class bowling figures were 7 for 42 and 2 for 38 when Northern Districts defeated [Otago](/source/Otago_cricket_team) in the 1985–86 [Shell Trophy](/source/Plunket_Shield).[4]

Treiber also played cricket for [Northland](/source/Northland_cricket_team), and was a part of the team that won the [Hawke Cup](/source/Hawke_Cup) in the 1980s and 1990s.[5] Later he became a prominent coach in the [Northland Region](/source/Northland_Region).[2]
