At the [2013 World Judo Championships](/source/2013_World_Judo_Championships) in [Rio de Janeiro](/source/Rio_de_Janeiro), Abe competed in the [women's 63 kg category](/source/2013_World_Judo_Championships_%E2%80%93_Women's_63_kg) where she reached the semifinal and finished fifth. She was also part of the Japanese team that won gold in the [women's&nbsp;team competition](/source/2013_World_Judo_Championships_%E2%80%93_Women's_team).
