# Kamna Chandra

**Kamna Chandra** is an Indian writer who has written plays for [All India Radio](/source/All_India_Radio) and stories and dialogues for the screen which include the films *[Chandni](/source/Chandni_(1989_film))*,[1] *[1942: A Love Story](/source/1942:_A_Love_Story)* (directed by her son-in-law [Vidhu Vinod Chopra](/source/Vidhu_Vinod_Chopra)),[2][3] *[Prem Rog](/source/Prem_Rog)* and the television show *[Kashish](/source/Kashish_(TV_show))*.[4]

## Biography

Kamna hails from [Muzaffarnagar](/source/Muzaffarnagar) and did part of her schooling from MKP College, Dehradun,[5] after which she did her bachelor's degree from [Allahabad University](/source/University_of_Allahabad), and was then married to business executive Navin Chandra.[6] She is the mother of author [Vikram Chandra](/source/Vikram_Chandra_(novelist)), film critic [Anupama Chopra](/source/Anupama_Chopra) (who is married to filmmaker [Vidhu Vinod Chopra](/source/Vidhu_Vinod_Chopra)) and film director [Tanuja Chandra](/source/Tanuja_Chandra). Her granddaughter, through Anupama, [Zuni Chopra](/source/Zuni_Chopra) is also a writer.[7]
