**Kamalbazar** ([Nepali](/source/Nepali_language): कमलबजार) is a [municipality](/source/List_of_cities_in_Nepal) in [Achham District](/source/Achham_District) in [Sudurpashchim Province](/source/Sudurpashchim_Province) of [Nepal](/source/Nepal) that was established on 18 September 2015 by merging the former [village development committees](/source/Village_development_committee_(Nepal)) [Bayala](/source/Bayala), [Dhaku](/source/Dhaku), [Birpath](/source/Birpath), [Chalsa](/source/Chalsa%2C_Nepal), [Sera](/source/Sera%2C_Nepal), [Muli](/source/Muli%2C_Nepal), [Mashtabandali](/source/Mashtabandali) and [Kuika](/source/Kuika).[1]

Kamalbazar is a trade centre for East Achham. It also has a primary health center and some banking facilities, which benefit locals, as they previously had to go the district headquarter [Mangalsen](/source/Mangalsen) to use such services.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] Wind energy facilities and solar power facilities support the local power supply.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] Administrative offices are located in the former Bayala.

## Demographics

At the time of the [2011 Nepal census](/source/2011_Nepal_census), Kamalbazar Municipality had a population of 23,770. Of these, 99.9% spoke [Nepali](/source/Nepali_language) and 0.1% other languages as their first language.[2]

In terms of ethnicity/caste, 48.1% were [Chhetri](/source/Chhetri), 18.2% [Hill Brahmin](/source/Bahun), 14.0% other [Dalit](/source/Dalit), 11.6% [Kami](/source/Kami_(caste)), 4.8% [Thakuri](/source/Thakuri), 2.4% [Damai](/source/Damai)/Dholi, 0.2% [Sarki](/source/Sarki_(ethnic_group)), 0.1% [Badi](/source/Badi_people), 0.1% [Lohar](/source/Lohar_(caste)), 0.1% Majhi, 0.1% [Musalman](/source/Nepalese_Muslims), 0.1% other Terai and 0.1% others.[3]

In terms of religion, 99.8% were [Hindu](/source/Hinduism_in_Nepal), 0.1% [Muslim](/source/Islam_in_Nepal) and 0.1% others.[4]

In terms of literacy, 55.1% could read and write, 3.8% could only read and 41.0% could neither read nor write.[5]

## Transportation
