''' Kalakeri ''' is a village in Northern part of [Karnataka](/source/Karnataka), [India](/source/India).<ref name="censusindia">Village code= 228700 {{cite web|url=http://www.censusindia.gov.in/Census_Data_2001/Village_Directory/Population_data/Population_5000_and_Above.aspx |title=Census of India : Villages with population 5000 & above |publisher=Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India |access-date=2008-12-18 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20081208044522/http://www.censusindia.gov.in/Census_Data_2001/Village_Directory/Population_data/Population_5000_and_Above.aspx |archive-date=2008-12-08 }}</ref> It is located in the [Sindgi](/source/Sindgi) [taluk](/source/taluk) of [Vijayapura district](/source/Vijayapura_district) in Karnataka. Pincode is 586118.

This should not be confused with the similarly spelled Kalkeri village in [Haveri district](/source/Haveri_district), about 20 kilometers southwest from Haveri, with two important Hoysala era temples – Someshwara temple (trikuta) and Basaveshwara temple (chaturkuta).<ref>{{cite book| author1=Madhusudan A. Dhaky|author2=Michael Meister|title=Encyclopaedia of Indian Temple Architecture, Volume 1 Part 3 South India Text & Plates|url= https://books.google.com/books?id=a1VJAQAAIAAJ | year=1996|publisher= American Institute of Indian Studies|isbn= 978-81-86526-00-2|pages= 77–78 }}</ref> Furthermore, it should not be confused with three villages all named Kalkere – one near Bengaluru, other north of Soraba and near Hangal (with an important two-sanctum Hoysala temple), and third in a horse-shoe shaped valley south of Channagiri.

==Demographics==
{{As of|2001}} India [census](/source/census), Kalakeri had a population of 7662 with 3866 males and 3796 females.<ref name="censusindia" />
