**Justin Stefan Swart** (born 23 July 1972) is a former South African [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player.[1]

## Playing career

Swart received his schooling at [Paul Roos Gymnasium](/source/Paul_Roos_Gymnasium) in Stellenbosch and was selected for the [Western Province](/source/Stormers) schools team that competed at the annual [Craven Week](/source/Craven_Week) tournament in 1990 and 1991. In 1991 he was selected for the [South African schools team](/source/South_Africa_national_under-18_rugby_union_team) and after school he enrolled at [Stellenbosch University](/source/Stellenbosch_University) for a degree in physical education.[2] Swart made his provincial debut for [Western Province](/source/Stormers) against [Eastern Province](/source/Eastern_Province_Elephants) in 1993 and represented the union 93 times and also equalled [Carel du Plessis](/source/Carel_du_Plessis)' record during the 1997 season, scoring 25 tries for the season.[3] Swart also played representative rugby for [Sharks](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)) in the [Currie Cup](/source/Currie_Cup) competition, the [Sharks](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)) in [Super Rugby](/source/Super_Rugby), as well as for the New Zealand side, [Otago](/source/Otago_(National_Provincial_Championship)).[2][4]

Swart made his [test](/source/Test_match_(rugby_union)) debut for the [Springboks](/source/Springboks) against the [Fiji](/source/Fiji_national_rugby_union_team) at [Loftus Versfeld](/source/Loftus_Versfeld) in 1996. At the end of 1997 he toured with the [Springboks to Europe](/source/1997_South_Africa_rugby_union_tour_of_Europe). In addition to the 10 Test matches he played, he also played three tour matches and scored 2 tries for the Springboks.[5]
