**Wan Muhammad Arif Shaharuddin bin Wan Junaidi** (born 6 June 2002) is a Malaysian [badminton](/source/Badminton) player.[1][2] He won the 2021 [Austrian Open](/source/Austrian_International) and [Ukraine International](/source/Ukraine_International_(badminton)) tournaments in the men's doubles event partnered with [Muhammad Haikal](/source/Muhammad_Haikal).[3]

## Career

### 2021

Partnered with [Muhammad Haikal](/source/Muhammad_Haikal), they won the [Austrian Open](/source/Austrian_International),[4] [Hellas International](/source/Hellas_International),[5] and [Ukraine International](/source/Ukraine_International_(badminton)).[6] The duo also finished as runners-up at the [Latvia International](/source/Latvia_International)[7] and [Scottish Open](/source/Scottish_Open_(badminton)).[8]

### 2022

In April, Arif and Haikal reached the final of the [Orléans Masters](/source/2022_Orl%C3%A9ans_Masters). However, they were forced to concede a walkover to Dutch pair [Ruben Jille](/source/Ruben_Jille) and [Ties van der Lecq](/source/Ties_van_der_Lecq) after Haikal was tested positive for COVID-19.[9][10]

He was part of the Malaysia's men's team that won silver medal at the [2021 SEA Games](/source/Badminton_at_the_2021_SEA_Games_%E2%80%93_Men's_team) in May.[11][12]

A few months later, he and Haikal reached the quarter-finals of the [Malaysia Masters](/source/2022_Malaysia_Masters).[13]

### 2023

Following a reshuffle in the national men's doubles department in February, Arif began partnering [Yap Roy King](/source/Yap_Roy_King),[14] thus ending his long-time partnership with Haikal.[15]

In June, Arif and Yap captured their first title as a pair at the [Nantes International](/source/Nantes_International) defeating [Putra Erwiansyah](/source/Putra_Erwiansyah) and [Patra Harapan Rindorindo](/source/Patra_Harapan_Rindorindo) in the final.[16]

In July, they were crowned as men's doubles national champions after winning the 2023 [National Championships](/source/Malaysian_National_Badminton_Championships).[17]

### 2024

In late March, playing in only their second tournament of the year after an injury layoff, Arif and Yap advanced to the [Spain Masters](/source/2024_Spain_Masters) final.[18] They fell to [Sabar Karyaman Gutama](/source/Sabar_Karyaman_Gutama) and [Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani](/source/Muhammad_Reza_Pahlevi_Isfahani) in three games, finishing as runners-up.[19]

### 2025

In July right before the upcoming [2025 BWF World Championships](/source/2025_BWF_World_Championships), Arif and Yap won their maiden title in men's doubles at [Macau Open](/source/2025_Macau_Open_(badminton)) against Sabar and Reza, on a slippery court and having tremendous delay in between during matches.[20]
