**Julien Bernard** (born 17 March 1992) is a French cyclist, who currently rides for [UCI WorldTeam](/source/UCI_WorldTeam) [Lidl–Trek](/source/Lidl%E2%80%93Trek_(men's_team)).[3]

## Career

The son of former professional cyclist [Jean-François Bernard](/source/Jean-Fran%C3%A7ois_Bernard), Julien Bernard was initially discouraged from taking up cycle racing by his father; he originally played tennis and football as a goalkeeper before switching to cycling at the age of 16. He joined [Trek Factory Racing](/source/Lidl%E2%80%93Trek_(men's_team)) as a *[stagiaire](/source/Stagiaire_(cycling))* in 2015, where he ended up becoming the team's lead rider in the [USA Pro Cycling Challenge](/source/2015_USA_Pro_Cycling_Challenge), where he finished tenth overall.[4] Bernard joined the team full-time in 2016, and he was named in the startlist for that year's [Vuelta a España](/source/2016_Vuelta_a_Espa%C3%B1a)[5] and the start list for the [2017 Giro d'Italia](/source/2017_Giro_d'Italia).[6] In July 2018, he was named in the start list for the [Tour de France](/source/2018_Tour_de_France).[7]
