'''Julie Charpentier''' ({{IPA|fr|ʒyli ʃaʁpɑ̃tje}}; 1770–1843) was a French sculptor.

Charpentier was born in Paris, the daughter of [François-Philippe Charpentier](/source/Fran%C3%A7ois-Philippe_Charpentier), ''mécanicien du roi'', and grew up in the [Louvre](/source/Louvre) in government-owned lodgings. From her father she learned drawing, also taking lessons from [Augustin Pajou](/source/Augustin_Pajou).

She began exhibiting her work in 1787 and first showed at the Louvre Salon in 1793; she continued to send works to the Salon every year from 1798 until 1824, working in [terra cotta](/source/terra_cotta), stone, and plaster. Many of her sculptures were produced to government commissions, including four of the 425 bas-reliefs on the column of the [place Vendôme](/source/place_Vend%C3%B4me).

In 1801 Charpentier offered her services as a [taxidermist](/source/taxidermy) to the [National Museum of Natural History](/source/National_Museum_of_Natural_History_(France)), and for twenty-five years thereafter mounted a range of animals for the institution. In 1826 she was granted a salaried post, but this was not enough to keep her from penury, and she died in poverty in the [Salpêtrière](/source/Piti%C3%A9-Salp%C3%AAtri%C3%A8re_Hospital).<ref name="RoyalistsRomantics">{{Cite book|title=Royalists to Romantics: Women Artists from the Louvre, Versailles, and Other French National Collections.|last=National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington D.C.|publisher=Scala Publishers Limited|year=2012|isbn=9781857597431|location=London}}</ref>

Several sculptures by Charpentier are in the collection of the [Château de Blois](/source/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Blois), including a possible self-portrait.<ref>{{Base Joconde|M0271001018|Buste d'homme, Blois}}</ref><ref>{{Base Joconde|M0271001019|Buste de femme (autoportrait ?)}}</ref><ref>{{Base Joconde|M0271001017|Louis Antoine Ange Chicoilet de Corbigny, préfet de Loir-et-Cher}}</ref> A bust of a man is in the {{ill|Musée Antoine Lécuyer|fr}} in [Saint-Quentin](/source/Saint-Quentin%2C_Aisne),<ref>{{Base Joconde|07930002934|Buste d'homme, Saint-Quentin}}</ref> while a bust of [Clémence Isaure](/source/Cl%C3%A9mence_Isaure) is in the [musée des Augustins](/source/mus%C3%A9e_des_Augustins) in [Toulouse](/source/Toulouse).<ref>{{Base Joconde|05620001915|Clémence Isaure}}</ref>
