**Julia Scott** is a noted [Canadian-American](/source/Canadian-American) writer and journalist, known primarily for her work in print and audio. She is a contributor to both [The New York Times](/source/The_New_York_Times) and [The New York Times Magazine](/source/The_New_York_Times_Magazine), as well as [National Public Radio](/source/National_Public_Radio), [American Public Media](/source/American_Public_Media), [Salon](/source/Salon_(website)), [Nautilus](/source/Nautilus_Quarterly), and [Maclean's](/source/Maclean's).

Scott is the senior producer of *Your Undivided Attention*, the podcast of the [Center for Humane Technology](/source/Center_for_Humane_Technology) and part of the [TED](/source/TED_(conference)) Audio Collective. [1] She was senior producer and lead creative of *Inside Voice: My Obsession with How We Sound* by [Lake Bell](/source/Lake_Bell), a [Pushkin](/source/Pushkin_Industries) audiobook that *Vanity Fair* praised as "A sweeping excavation of voice and what it reveals about who we are.”.[2] Additionally, Scott was senior producer of *Murderville, Texas*, a 2023 investigative podcast from [The Intercept](/source/The_Intercept), which won a National Headliner Award in the criminal justice category, and was named an honoree in the 2023 Webby Awards. "Bon Voyage", Scott's 2012 radio documentary for the [BBC World Service](/source/BBC_World_Service), was praised by [The Guardian](/source/The_Guardian) as "a vivid, beautifully told story of a couple facing terminal illness"[4] and broadcast internationally, winning the Excellence in Journalism Award from the [NLGJA](/source/NLGJA)[5] and becoming a finalist for the [Radio Academy Award](/source/Radio_Academy_Award).[6] Her audio documentary "Under One Roof" aired on [CBC](/source/Canadian_Broadcasting_Corporation)'s "The Current" on April 16, 2020.[7]
