The **Judgement Rocks**, part of the [Kent Group](/source/Kent_Group), is a small unpopulated 0.39-hectare (0.96-acre) [granite](/source/Granite) [islet](/source/Islet) and some associated bare rocks, located in the [Bass Strait](/source/Bass_Strait), lying off the north-east coast of [Tasmania](/source/Tasmania), between the [Furneaux Group](/source/Furneaux_Group) and [Wilsons Promontory](/source/Wilsons_Promontory) in [Victoria](/source/Victoria%2C_Australia), Australia. The islet and associated rocks are contained within the [Kent Group National Park](/source/Kent_Group_National_Park).

The rock was named by [Matthew Flinders](/source/Matthew_Flinders) "from its resemblance to an elevated seat".[1]

[Joanna Murray-Smith](/source/Joanna_Murray-Smith)'s novel *Judgement Rock* is named for the rocks and set among the islands of the Kent Group.[2]

## Fauna

Recorded breeding [seabird](/source/Seabird) and [wader](/source/Wader) species include [fairy prion](/source/Fairy_prion), [Pacific gull](/source/Pacific_gull), [silver gull](/source/Silver_gull), and [sooty oystercatcher](/source/Sooty_oystercatcher). The island hosts Tasmania's largest breeding colony of [Australian fur seals](/source/Arctocephalus_pusillus),[3] which also attracts visits by [killer whales](/source/Killer_whale). The only reptile present is the [metallic skink](/source/Metallic_skink).[4][5]
