**Joyce Van Patten** (born March 9, 1934)[2] is an American film and stage actress. She is best known for her roles in films like *[The Bad News Bears](/source/The_Bad_News_Bears)* (1976), *[St. Elmo's Fire](/source/St._Elmo's_Fire_(film))* (1985) (as Mrs. Beamish), and as Gloria Noonan in *[Grown Ups](/source/Grown_Ups_(film))* (2010).

## Personal life

Van Patten is the sister of actor [Dick Van Patten](/source/Dick_Van_Patten).

Van Patten was married to actor [Martin Balsam](/source/Martin_Balsam) from 1959 to 1962 and they had a daughter, actress [Talia Balsam](/source/Talia_Balsam).[3]

Van Patten has appeared in dozens of television series.
